i hope someone can help me i am quite new to elctronics and wish to find out more on the ecu of vehicles ,how to alter the fuel map or reconfiger components to the ecu but i am having difficulty finding info .i have bought bobks on the subject eg: car hacks and mods for dummies . my understand is thatyou can swap the eproms or reflash with out removing the ecu but what i have not grasped is what type of hardware and software is used to connect ecu to pc for programming ,i have ones that scan for fault codes .
would i need to start with pic programming and build up?
