From tests on a 2004 VW Golf TDI it was discovered that the VW Diagnostic connector ALWAYS supplies power. Consequently the ignition MUST be switched on BEFORE the diagnostics plug is inserted. The yellow LED will continue to flash – this s normal. Also, the diagnostics plug has to be plugged again every time the ignition is switched off (Motor Stop), even if the green LED continues to light.
