CAD in the Elektor Lab

The electronics enthusiast's product design cycle

Very interesting article by Luc Lemmens in Nov 2009 issue about use of Altium Designer in Elektor Labs. Just wondering if anyone at Elektor (or any other participants in this forum) has any real-life experience of using the signal integrity capabilities of Altium Designer? Have any of the designs in Elektor required modelling of reflections, buffers (IBIS), crosstalk, power supply integrity etc?

Cheers

Hi ago,

Just about all the simulation features you've asked about are included in Altium Designer. You can find out more from their wiki page: http://wiki.altium.com/display/ADOH/Circuit+Simulation

If you are interested in taking a look for yourself, then you can download a complete trial version of Altium Designer from the Evaluate tab here: http://altium.com/products/altium-designer/en/altium-designer_home.cfm
If you do go down that path, I would highly recommend having a look at a few of their training videos to get yourself up and running: http://altium.com/training/en/training-videos.cfm#,11

As for my own personal experiences, well theyre bound to be a tad biased so I'll let others jump in on that one.
