After loading "LCR3A-Bootloader-test-version-1.hex" the flashing pattern of D16 was a repetition of the following sequence:
2 flashes quickly after another, about 0,5 second pause, one short flash, about 2 seconds pause.

After loading "LCR3A-Bootloader-test-WaitingTime-1.hex" the flashing pattern of D16 was a repetition of the following sequence:
3 short flashes quickly after each other, about 2 seconds pause.

You can also do a few hardware checks,

1- USB socket voltage should be 4.8~5.2V
2- Check voltage at FT232RL pin 20.
3- FB (ferrite beads) should be of low ohm type (<40ohm)
4- Check board around SLEEP pin(12) of UART.

Yes, it should work with the new file LCR3A_Bootloader_V21_Patch_1.hex

- SW1 to OFF. Put a jumper on J17 so the bootloader ask for a firmware update. Connect the USB cable. SW1 to ON and start AU2011.
- load the LCR3A_Bootloader_V21_Patch_1.hex file. If everything goes well the D6 LED should Flash quickly (5Hz), otherwise very slowly (0.5Hz).
- SW1 OFF. Close AU2011. SW1 ON and start AU2011, the bootloader ask for a firmware update. Load the LCR3A_firmware_V300.hex file.
- SW1 OFF. Close AU2011. Remove jumper on J17. SW1 ON and start AU2011. Look at the Help / About AU2011 menu: Bootloader version will be 2.2 and the port will be recognised at start-up of AU2011.

I followed your instructions.

After loading the LCR3A_Bootloader_V21_Patch_1.hex file, LED D16 was flashing continuously at a fast rate.

After loading the LCR3A_firmware_V300.hex file and starting AU2011 the Help / About AU2011 menu showed: Boot loader Version 2.2.

Unfortunately the port is still not recognised at start-up of AU2011, but only after switching SW1 Off and On again ...

Does it make sense to carry-out the voltage checks as suggested by Hadihf, or is that unnecessary because the port works well after flipping SW1 Off/On?

Dear Veld,

There seems to be another problem with your USB port. As explained in the articles of Elektor, that port must be "high-power bus-powered device" capable of delivering up to 500mA.
Can you check on another PC?

On mine (iMac27 with virtualization of WinXP on Parallels), the passage of 300ms to 500ms solves the problem.

Do you have an oscilloscope?
If so, you can examine the signal PWRN (pin 14 of U19, or left side of R94).
Normally, at power ON (USB connection), the signal becomes high (allows to trigger the oscilloscope on this rising), then go down to low after a delay of approximately 300ms.

Independently all of this, the normal procedure is:
- SW1 is OFF.
- Connect the USB cable.
- switch SW1 to ON...

I think this solved the problem. When I follow this procedure and start AU2011 the port is recognised immediately.

In my experience, with other USB-devices it doesn't matter whether you power-up the device first and then connect the USB-cable or the other way around. Therefore I thought I could leave SW1 in the ON-position and just plug in the USB-cable. I checked the Operating Instructions of the LCR-meter, but it doesn't mention a specific starting-up procedure. I also mentioned my start-up procedure in my first post of this topic.

Just for the record:
My motherboard (GigaByte GA-Z68X-UD3H version 1) has high power USB-busses with 3x the standard power.
I also have an oscilloscope, but I suppose now it is not necessary any more to carry out the measurement you suggested.

Finally there is something I don't quite understand in the calibration/trim-procedure. But for that question I will start a new topic as soon as I have found out what it is precisely that I don't understand.
