Elektor SMT Precision Reflow Oven - Heating Element Fault

The electronics enthusiast's product design cycle

Postby nikkonst » Wed Mar 25, 2009 12:00 am

I have set up the Elektor SMT Precision Reflow Oven with the following parameters :
PREH 150 C / 90 sec
HEAT 200 C / 50 sec
SLDR 230 C / 30 sec
KEEP 210 C
COOL 150 C
Sometimes when the PREH operation is finished the "Heating Element Fault" appears the process is stopped and the Cool process starts.
Sometimes when the SLDR operation is finished the "Heating Element Fault" appears the process is stopped and the Cool process starts (and eventually the PCB are ruined).
These happens almost in 50% of my work. Under these circumstances the oven is unusable.
I can't explain the reason and I have the felling that this problem has to do with the measuring temperature algorithm in the firmware.
Any help is appreciated or a firmware update that solves the problem would be welcomed.
Thanks
Nikos

I also get the heating element error from time to time. Is there a way to correct this?
