Class A Amp?

Many years ago I saw a design for a single ended Class A Power Amp - I assume it was in ELECTOR. Its output device was a very big power transistor mounted on a very big heatsink but what was interesting about this design was that the load in the collector of this transistor was an inductor!! What was used for this inductor was the secondary winding of a toroidal mains transformer. If I remember correctly the design was powered by a 12 volts supply which, due to the considerable current drain through this output transistor, was a recommended to be a 12v lead acid battery!!

For many years I kept a photocopy of this design - planning at some stage to try this design out.

Having moved home quite a number of times and changed jobs also a number of times - somehow my filing system has failed. I can't find this article!!

Does anyone recognize this design and have a copy I could get hold of??
