SDR -- a Simple and effective radio for anyone !!!

The radio-active topic

Postby thijsbeckers » Mon Dec 03, 2012 12:00 am

sarathmonHello

I have a question. is this SDR works in India ?. I have build one and connected its output to my PC Line in. Then i started ElektorSDR.exe, Then i started SDRadio Front end. then i tested it with test_clk, it is working, it also shows the bands (In line1 mode) which are present. But there is no Audio. I checked the band using a mini radio. The radio receives the signal perfectly. Pls help me it is so urgent.

Thank you

There is no reason it shouldn't work in India. I don't know in which bands the stations are transmitting in India, though. Are you sure you connected everything as mentioned in the article?

yes, i have connected and double checked the connections,Everything is properly connected and i also receiving the test_Clk 5Mhz at the output, and i can also change the gain of it. There are no DRM Transmissions in my area. There are only AM transmissions ( I dont know in which mode (normal, SSB, DSSB etc) they are transmitting the AM signal). Can the SDR receive normal AM ?. One more thing The SDR program shows some peak at different frequencies (In line 1 mode), But no voice.

Thank you

It seems to me that your problem is with the PC rather than with the SDR.
Do you hear any sound at all. If you have selected an AM decoding mode
in the program, you should be able to hear some noise regardless of the
tuning of the sdr.

Look at your sound output

What Jan says makes sense. You can check for I & Q compatibility of your sound card with the circuit published in June2007 Elektor issue.'

Sir,

Thank you for the reply sir. In which software did you test the circuit ?
Which channels are receiving ?

I have the PCB with me, and it is working fine in Test_CLK mode.

Thank you.

I have also completed building the SDR as given in the Elektor may 2007 magazine. As suggested in section HOOK UP and ALIGNMENT, there is written about a supplementary PDF which helps in initializing and commissioning of the SDR. But I cant seem to find it anywhere on Elektor site.

Please could anyone give me a link for the same.

Thank you

Have you tried the Software description under the 'Free downloads' tab: http://www.elektor.com/magazines/2007/may/software-defined-radio.91527.lynkx?tab=4 ?
