DIY USB network card?

The radio-active topic

Postby m45 » Sat Oct 06, 2012 12:00 am

I'd like to make a USB network card myself. It doesn't actually need to function as a network card so no Ethernet socket or antenna is necessary. I'm just after a small PCB that will connect to an internal USB 2.0 socket and has a chip on it and some holes that allow me to program the MAC address after it's built.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm sure I can just about order a PCB and get the chip mounted at work once I know what chip to use and how to wire it.

The reason I'm after this is that my motherboard almost died today and if it dies then I can't use all my software that's tied to its MAC.

Any takers?

Thanks
