Wireless ECG XBee Module type

The radio-active topic

Postby kropot72 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 12:00 am

In the article "Wireless ECG" published in the January 2011 issue of Elektor, the XBee module photographed on the PCB is a Digi S1 type. However the Component List gives the part number for a Digi type S2 ZigBee module.
The article section on configuring the XBee modules and the related screen shot relate to Digi firmware that is applicable to Digi type S1 modules and is incompatible with type S2 ZigBee modules.
Digi has never made a final release of firmware to enable their type S1 modules to be ZigBee-capable.

Therefore the article should not have stated that ZigBee technology was used for the wireless link and should not have included a Digi type S2 module in the Component List.
