I'm looking for information on domestic water descalers.
In particular the type that drives a coil which is wound round the cold water inlet to a ploperty. An info on the theory of operation or the building of such a device.
I found one project in an electronics mag but it was published back in 1997 and is not available in reprint.

If the 'electronic mag' is Elektor then send an email to their customer services dept. and ask for a photocopy on paper of the said article.

No matter what you wind round a copper pipe (Faraday says) NOTHING will get inside the pipe - except for DC which creates a steady magnetic field.
I am not aware of any peer reviewed scientific paper that says these things work. Please give me an explanation if I am wrong!
