An Elektor Distance Learning Course

Postby iamborg1of1 » Fri Sep 28, 2012 12:00 am

Hi just a warning to people Ive had this course for a year or so now and due to an illness Im haveing to start again. Yet again I tried the first program and everthing seems fine but nothing lights up as it should do all the setting are fine Ive been over and over and over them again. The power light is on, the usb light is on and leds flash when you upload the program, but still it does not work so ,im pulling my hair out I had one last thing to check which I should have checked in the beginning , the power supply has to be 13.2 volts and I checked it and it was fine and as the psu LED was on the board I didnot think there was any thing wrong. By now I had come to the conclusion that the programming board had gone wrong during the time I had not used it. How I dont know . Anyway 5 mins before I wrote this I disconnected the power and change the jumpers to run from the USB and do you know what happened it all work so I get the meter out and check the supply and its fine doing 13.2 volt so I plug it in again this time I check the power take offs on the programmer and I get some very wierd readings so I unplug the power from the board and change the way the voltage goes in to the board so the centre is negative and everthing works perfectly . I think Im very lucky as no damage was done. But this course is good but if you do make a small mistake the is no forgivenes.

Glad to see your problem's solved!

However: the board contains a rectifier so it should accept either polarity. The most likely cause of your problem is that the little plug that connects to the cable wasn't inserted all the way.
