RC Speed Control for DC Motors

Postby jan.lichtenbelt » Mon Jul 04, 2016 8:00 pm

This project has been published in Elektor July & August 2014 p 104-108.
https://www.elektor.com/elektor-magazine-en-july-august-2014-pdf

In practice I found that the bridge used ADP3624 will be unstable when using with higher currents. I tried a lot for improvements, without results.

Now I changed to a much better bridge L6206, which can even handle two DC motors. Combining the outputs will increase the maximum current to about 5A. I use it myself with a motor of maximum 1A. The PCB will be a little bit larger 32x50 and I use now SMD components. But that is, after some practice, easy to do even for an amateur as I am.
Please find the scheme and the PCB. Additional is the LCD connector (2x5 pins).

If interested I can help with the PCB for a relative low price. Please contact me if interested.

With kind regards

PS. A microchip PIC16F1825 can be programmed yourself using Flowcode http://www.matrixtsl.com/mmforums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=11613
or I can help you if you are not used to do this yourself.

Hi! The project looks great!

If I can give you some advice, for future project you may want to read this article with information about what type of motor use: a DC motor or a AC motor.
https://clr.es/blog/en/dc-motors-and-ac-motors-selection/

Hope I have been helpful! ;)

My friend has a BL43 Motor, and I think this guide would help him efficiently operate the said motor.

This work would definitely be helpful. Thanks!
