Quality of audio CDs

The radio-active topic

Postby alan2 » Wed May 30, 2007 12:00 am

Back in the May 2001 issue, in the magazine Reader's Corner, was printed a brilliant letter from A Kappert about CD Recording Quality. At that time there was available for free download his CD-Analyser software. Back in 2001 I downloaded this and had great fun checking CDs of the day. Now I'd like to revisit the subject, but since 2001 have been through several PCs. My present machine does not of course have his software on it. Is it still available for download? I tried searching the Elektor website, but it seems that without a project number I can't locate it. (As it was never an Elektor project it does not have a formal number.)

Does any reader have a copy that they downloaded at the time, and could possibly email to me? (assuming that doesn't contravene Elektor copyright). Or better still, can someone at Elektor point me to a site where I could download it?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Try Adobe Audition, the successor to Cool Edit, for a similar function letting you exceed the industry-specified maximum audio drive levels for CDs.
