Communicating with CAN 10/2008

OBD, CAN, EV, RV

I have installed TCanProg successfully ( green led on) but am unable to run "Tiny Can View". What is the process to install the librarys for GTK+ which are required to run Tiny Can View. The url link [2] seems to be incorrect.

for can_view, install

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gladewin32/gtk-2.12.9-win32-2.exe

and then launch can_view.

The module has to be flashed with the firmware before use.

Fit a Jumper on J2. ( = two pins oo 4-way header; LED side)

Plug in USB cable.

Run TcanFirst program.

Remove jumper, unplug USB cable once and insert again.

Run TcanProg program.

The module is now ready for use.

Success

Thanks (Elektor) Jan

It works brilliantly now.
All the problem was the URL in the article.

Now just a plug in -
I have a PV Array (2kW with a Grid Tie Inverter) with a remote monitor via CAN and I wanted to access the GT data via PC to record data.

I have tried to use TinyCAN View with the TinyCAN_I board of the paper, but it had been impossible.
I have done the installation process as it is defined in the article and is described by "ELEKTOR editor" in a previous post. No problems, Led lights as it is defined in the article. I have also installed GTK libraries succesfully.
When I run TinyCAN View, There is a problem. In the main window, "Start" "Can Reset" options are disabled. I suppose that the problem is with the driver. The article uses a USB-CAN driver file "mhstcan1.dll", but it is not included in the download files. Other call "mhstcan.dll" is the only one that I can found, but with this file the software is not working apropiattely in my PC.
I attach a file with some captured images and a more detailed description of my problem.

Moreover, in the figures 4 and 5 of the article, the text is english and, in the version that I installed the menus are a mix of German and Spanish.

Someone can clarify which is the problem?

Sincerely

Your problem was omitted in Jans reply but you need to run can-view then
select :
options, setup, driver
and point the driver folder to "can_api"
which is included in the download from elektor

Now you should be in business!

(PS if the interface is not connected to the USB then the CAN option will be unavailable)
