USB-DMX converter and re-compiling the firmware

The topic on number crunching

Postby phonoplug » Wed May 30, 2007 12:00 am

Just about to build this project and downloaded the FW zip. I want to re-assemble/ re-compile it so I can make tweaks. I generated an MPLAB project and added all the .asm and .inc files that were in the zip file. Also added 16C745.lkr file from the MPLAB directory as I guessed this would be required. However, when I hit F10 to build it it seems to assemble the individual files ok, but it then falls over with:

MPLINK 4.03, Linker
Copyright (c) 2006 Microchip Technology Inc.
Error - section 'STARTUP' has a memory 'vectors' which can not fit the section. Section 'STARTUP' length=0x00000098.
Errors : 1

I have done quite a lot of asm programming with PICs before now but never ventured into linker scripts at all so am pretty much lost! Anyone able to tell me whats wrong?!

Thanks for any advise!
