Problem Wheelie GT extension kit

Der selbst balancierende einachsige Elektro-Roller

Postby noob » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:00 am

Hi everyone,

First of all, i apologise for writing in English but i don't speak German and i don't trust online translators.

I am a French student in engineering school, and for my last year project i am working with three friends on the Wheelie. Our school bought the Wheelie and the GT extension kit available here :
http://www.elektor.fr/products/kits-modules/kits/100479-71-wheelie-gt.1524246.lynkx

We have set up the kit and sent into the ATmega32 the software available here :
http://www.elektor.fr/magazines/2010/octobre/wheelie-gt.1532692.lynkx?tab=4

At first the Wheelie started, then stopped, then started again etc (the leds blinked in order green, yellow, red again and again in an endless loop). So we changed the watchdog, and set it to 2048 and now the system starts.

Our main problem now is that we can only move right or left. When we try to speed up forward or backward, nothing is happening, the system doesnt answer. I checked the ADXL output values with a voltmetre and they seem correct compared to the datasheet (i got 1.46V when the board is parallel to the ground, 1.63V if i move it to move forward, and 1.32V if i move it to move backward).

Can anyone help me understand what's happening and fix the problem please?

Thank you.

Denis

Hi again,

I have 5V at both SDA and SCL (checked on the pins under the geartooth sensor card).
Can it be anything else?

The frames are clear on the oscilloscope for both pins.

Yes i do. I use BASCOM-AVR to compile the program, and AVR Studio 4 to send the .hex files into the chip.
I use AVRISP MKII to connect the chip to the computer

I've sent the code in the ATmega32 but the Wheelie doesn't start. The three LEDs blink in orer, then reset, and blink again. It makes a loop.
Last time i got this problem, i set the watchdog at a higher value, 2048 instead of 32. Do you think it is a good idea or is there something else to do?

Also, in Elektor magazine n°388, October 2010, it is said that the ATmega8 from the GT kit is already programmed and i didn't change that code. Do you think i should reprogram it too or is the code you sent me the same?

Yes, replace the Code, you can read the Mega8 first and store the Hex on your PC.
Please check the Fuses from the Mega8 too!
