led christmas tree

Can anyone help? I've made one of the led christmas trees from the led suppliment mag and all works fine, just want to be able to write text on it.
I'm newish to pic's and asm code, sort of understand the christmas tree code, can edit the order of the patterns and reprogram the pic but just can't fig out how to write a text code.
This project is amazing tho and think every one needs to make one for christmas!!
