DIGITAL ULTRASONIC METER

Title basically says it all

Postby Guest » Sat Jan 04, 2014 12:00 am

Good day to all

On this subject I will share with you all stages of design and construction of a digital ultrasonic meter, with which we can measure distances without a physical tape. Using the technique of radar , where ultrasonic audio signal (which has the most suitable characteristics for this purpose besides being silent to humans ) is transmitted and teneindo into account the time it takes the signal to return after bouncing on some obstacle, we know the distance between the generator and the obstacle .

This device has great advantages in relation to conventional metric tapes, is a digital device to allow us to store and process a much easier way measured data , in addition to be unnecessary contact with the far end of the measure even more faciltando work measurement.

The main features I am going to implement this dispostivo are as follows , taking into account some characteristics of commercial devices and some designs made by other colleagues who are on the web:

- Measures in several units
- Various types of measurement :
Continuous: takes values continuously during certain intervals.
Manual: By pressing a button taking measurement
- Memory for storage measures
- Add or subtract the stored measurements
- Areas Calculator
- Calculator volumes
- Belt grip
- Laser Pointer
- AUTO
- Meter Angle : With the levels that can be taken to determine a more simple way the height of an object
- Detector distance : distance is programmed and the device detects when it is reached

Some of the sources that I have in mind for the design of the device are :

Ultrasonic Distance Meter Electronica AG Mexico

ULTRASONIC DISTANCE METER by SÁEZ CARDADOR JAVIER UNIVERSITY CARLOS III DE MADRID

As you proceed through the design of the device will be adding more Podre functions , if they have any additional ideas will also be welcome.

Thank you very much and I hope to bring to a successful end this project with all of you

The appointed way to propose projects for publication in Elektor magazine is through www.elektor-labs.com. There you will be able to interact with users on the design and specifications. Proposals reaching the In Progress phase qualify for publishing in Elektor.
We look forward to seeing your project published at www.elektor-labs.com
