Hai,
Please see the magaine button, reach 2007-may issue and select sdr article. On the new page you will find link to software zip file 070039-11.zip

As you extract the zip, you get Initcal.bin wanted file.

All the best.

Just a note to anyone coming to this project which might just save them some time. At first I couldn't get any output. Everything seemed to work just fine, the FT232 driver installed and InitCal.bin appeared to upload. The 10MHz reference was working but I had no clock signal and so no output.

The problem was that I already had a clash with another device connected to the computer, a Winkeyer USB, that also uses the FT232R. CDM-Setup was uploading the driver to the FT232 in the Winkeyer and not seeing the Elektor SDR. Disconnecting the Winkeyer allowed the FT232 in the Elektor to install OK and the receiver works.

Hello

I bought the sdr from the may 2007 issue, my eyes do not allow me to actually solder a print like that (I am from the age of tubes and 1 watt resistors). Under linux, using hamlib for interfacing to the card, and portaudio for the soundcard, using Qt for generating the user interface I spent some time programming a receiver, with reasonable success.
Main objective is to learn about digital signals.

I hardly have an antenna (just a wire of a few meters in my room), it seems that the sensitivity is less than my (very old) Plessey, but I am receiving many AM and ssb stations. Since a few weeks I can even decode the "CQ CQ ..." in morse and rtty on the 14070/14080 KHz.
The elektor seems to have a slight problem in tuning the VFO on higher frequencies, distances of over 500 Hz are measured between intended VFO frequency and frequency as reported to be set. Software repair is such that (given that the VFO is accurate) frequency can be selected on 3 Hz accurate..

Currently I am trying to figure out phase shift keying for (q|b)psk31.
Looking for interested parties to share experiences,

all the best

Hallo,
for your Info you find the new DLL to Winrad V1.32 for the Elektor HW2007 here:
http://home.gjk4all.net/winrad-dll/

In addition Ive also extended the HW with a variable RF Attenuator (via I2C) and an HF Ampli to extend the gain on the 30,20,17m Bands.

Try them and give me a feedback.
I attach the HW schema and the screen of my "SDR Elektor Navigator".

My code is an extention (or better a rebuild) of this first version of
'Gert Jan Kruizinga'.

Thank you.

I am interested in trying the SDR under linux. Can some one advice how this may be done?

As this project was originally published in 2007 and as there seems to be issues getting the CY27EE16 part - are there any plans to update this project?

Thanks,

Turlough

Hallo,
I've tested further my first extention circuit and I can now present some small extentions of the SDR. You find attached the new circuit diagram.
Here the list:
1. Added a simple Antenna relay-switch controlled via I2C
2. Added an Amplifier stage ERA-3 for additional 22dB. This amplification is very useful when I use the SDR as Panadapter to the second IF of my TS-870S
3. RF2420 Attenuator: althouth is very useful to control the amplification/attenuation in step of 2dB, the RF2420 shows some intermodulation effect at some attenuations values. I advice to substitude this chip with some relay-switched attenuator. Maybe in 3,6,12dB steps.

The combination amplication-attenuation help in any case to get the best response from the sdr given an antenna and different signals strength/conditions.
A further step would be to insert some passbands to the front side of the SDR. I made some experiments with a Braun Preselector and the quality of the incoming signals increase a lot.
I hope this will help you to investigate and extend your sdr circuit.

jan42, Can you share your code with me? I plan to write a linux software for elektor as well. Thank you.
