Processing Windows audio?

Hello everyone,,
One thing I used to do on my old Mac was have my DAW open, run my computer audio into it (using 3rd party software to make it an input), and then process it before it hit my headphones. I could essentially EQ my headphones to be a bit more flat response, or add a touch of reverb to make things less fatiguing. Super fun and useful for things like gaming.

Is there a way I can do this on Windows 10 but without having to constantly have a DAW window open? Is there a program I can run in the background/toolbar where I can load plugins?
